Lanzini arrives at Upton Park as Hammers prepare for Maltese clash

Another new arrival at the academy of football, with Manuel Lanzini joining the club for a one year loan.  He’s not a player that there seem to be a lot of views on, save for him seemingly sacrificing a promising European career for the dollars oft he Middle East.  Hey, we’ve all got to pay the rent.  Slaven seems happy though, having previously tried to bring the lad to Besitikas but failing to do so. He’s an attacking midfielder in the Berkovic/Benayoun mode and it will be interesting to see that creativity linking up with the pace of Sakho and Valencia.

I’ve not got an amazing feeling aboit this lad, I suspect a promising start but one to fade over a heavy season, but hopefully I am wrong and he makes a real impact, welcome to Upton Park anyway fella.  The only other gossip i have is that we are still in for a striker but Charlie Austin is not on that list at the moment.

Moving on, we have a tricky test in 100 degree heat in Malta tonight, I hope we name a stronger bench than recently as this will definitely be a game that requires tired legs to be replaced.  It’s not going to be an easy ride but I fancy us snaeking through with a 0-0 draw on their turf giving us an aggregate win.  Come on you Irons!
