Important West Ham man doubtful vs Tottenham, key Hammers man could start

West Ham United have confirmed on their official website that key defender Aaron Cresswell is a doubt for Thursday night’s Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.

The Hammers will hope to build on their midweek win over West Bromwich Albion, with David Moyes’ men also triumphant against Spurs earlier this season in the Carabao Cup.

West Ham defender Cresswell has been a mainstay in the Irons side since the appointment of the club’s new manager – but the former Ipswich Town man was hurt against the Baggies.

The natural left-back was replaced by Declan Rice after 76 minutes of the win at the London Stadium and the club have now confirmed that he will be assessed ahead of the trip to Tottenham.

In more positive news, Mark Noble looks set to be reintroduced to West Ham’s starting XI, with the influential midfielder coming off the bench against West Brom.

The club captain replaced Pedro Obiang in the victory over the Baggies at half-time and with the build-up of fixtures over the festive period, the combative midfielder could well be named in Moyes’ team at Wembley.

In a London derby, having homegrown players in the side such as Noble could well be a positive move for West Ham.

Finally, longer-term Hammers absentees Jose Fonte, Sam Byram and Edimilson Fernandes remain unavailable for the game against Tottenham.

West Ham sit 16th in the Premier League standings ahead of the fixture and go into the game as underdogs.

However, victory against Tottenham would lift the Hammers up to 11th and act as the ideal tonic to the club’s relegation concerns.
