West Ham United attacker Jarrod Bowen has been reflecting on making his debut for his new club against Manchester City on Wednesday evening.
The Hammers recruit came off the bench at the Etihad Stadium to play the last 10 minutes or so, but was unable to have much of an effect as the Londoners fell to a 2-0 loss.
Bowen arrived at West Ham on transfer deadline day for big money, so there is a lot of emphasis on him to deliver the goods to try and lead the club away from the relegation zone they currently find themselves in.
Although the Hammers star couldn’t make an impression in his short time on the pitch on Wednesday evening, he revealed he was delighted to finally make his debut, having been made to wait so long to do so.
“My debut has been longer coming than I thought it was going to be, obviously, with the Manchester City game being called off and especially with it being my first involvement, I wanted to get going straight away,” the official West Ham website quotes him as saying.
“I had a little bit of a wait, so I was happy to get out on the pitch again and get the West Ham shirt on and I’m just hoping for more appearances.
“I think it was important, especially coming into a game like this just to have my first couple of touches and I got that. But they’re a very good side, there is no denying that, so we just move onto the next game now.”
Bowen will hope to make more of an impact in a Hammers shirt in their next match, which sees them head to champions elect Liverpool on Monday night, in another outing where he could be feeding off scraps once again.
