West Ham United manager David Moyes has provided an update to supporters over the ongoing injury situation regarding Ryan Fredericks and Andriy Yarmolenko.
The Hammers travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool in the Premier League on Monday evening, and the pair have been ruled out of contention for the match, with the issues they have been nursing.
Fredericks went off injured in the West Ham defeat at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night, and looks set for an extended period on the sidelines, but there has been more positive developments regarding the situation of Yarmolenko.
Hammers boss Moyes confirmed the status of both men when he addressed the media ahead of the match at Anfield, beginning with the right-back.
“I can’t confirm exactly how long he’s going to be out for, but we know that he’s damaged the ligaments in his shoulder and we’re waiting on more advice just to see what we think.” The West Ham official website quotes him as saying.
“Obviously we’re doing everything we can to get him back as quick as we can, but I couldn’t confirm at the moment whether it’s surgery, I couldn’t confirm at the moment whether it’s just going to be healing time. We’re just waiting on another little bit of advice.”
The Hammers boss then turned the focus onto the Ukraine international, who he confirmed is back in training, which will be music to the ears of fans of the London Stadium outfit.
“He’s done a little bit of training. He’s joined us a little bit during the week, but he’s not really joined any of the main sessions like he’s not trained today with the group. He’s probably still a bit off from joining in.”
The news leaves the Hammers with just Pablo Zabaleta and youngster Jeremy Ngakia at right-back for the foreseeable future, so Moyes will be eagerly hoping that is the last of his injury concerns.
