West Ham United are eyeing a move for Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall this summer. He is on the club’s wishlist.
The Blues have reportedly set a price tag of £30 million for the 26-year-old, with West Ham, Everton, and Fulham showing interest in snapping him up.
The Englishman was on the fringes of the first team but played a crucial role in the Europa Conference League victory last term, recording four goals and three assists in 13 appearances.
Dewsbury-Hall played a back-up role without making a fuss, but would jump at the chance to be a crucial player elsewhere, away from Stamford Bridge.
West Ham could be his next stomping ground. He is a technically secure midfielder who can connect the midfield to attack. He also possesses an eye for a goal.
Dewsbury-Hall registered 12 goals and 15 assists to help Leicester City secure promotion to the Premier League before his switch to Chelsea last summer.
He would be a fantastic pick-up for West Ham, especially as he will be a cheaper signing than James McAtee (Manchester City) and Harvey Elliott (Liverpool).
Chelsea’s bloated squad means West Ham can pluck some excellent players for decent fees. Dewsbury-Hall, who earns £80,000 per week, can prove a wise bargain for the Hammers.
If West Ham are looking to pounce on more players from Chelsea, the club should seriously consider a move for defensive midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu (View).
Ugochukwu spent last season on loan at Southampton, and even though his numbers were not overwhelmingly positive, the intangibles point to a potentially brilliant signing.
Ugochukwu does not have a place in the Chelsea first team, and the Hammers should ask for him on loan, perhaps sweetening it with an option or obligation to buy.
The French-Nigerian is a solid, combative midfielder.
He can be cleaner on the ball in the first phase, but his ability to mop up and shield the defence is remarkable. He could be worth the punt for West Ham.
