Jack Wilshere

‘A real possibility’ – West Ham get nightmare injury news

West Ham United midfielder Jack Wilshere could be out for the rest of the season, with a club insider telling Claret and Hugh that the England international is still some way off returning to action.

The Hammers fans were excited when the creative midfielder moved to the London Stadium over the summer on a free transfer from Arsenal.

However, Wilshere arrived at West Ham with a poor injury record and this has continued with the Irons in 2018-19.

The 27-year-old has only started four Premier League games this season for Manuel Pellegrini’s men and as such has failed to make an impact at the club.

The West Ham insider stated that Wilshere’s progression is not as the club would have hoped and that the supporters may not see the creative star again until next term.

“There’s a real possibility he may be out for the season but there’s no certainty. We keep our fingers crossed,” the source told Claret and Hugh.

West Ham’s midfield has looked unbalanced this season and it is clear that the club would have planned for 2018-19 with Wilshere in their thoughts.

However, the Hammers have lacked energy and quality distribution in the heart of their team throughout the season and are overly reliant on Declan Rice.

If Wilshere was fit and firing, he would be a real asset for West Ham – but it remains to be seen when, or if, that day will come.
