West Ham United claimed a hard-fought 2-1 win over Everton at the London Stadium, keeping themselves two points above the relegation zone with four games to go.
The Hammers got the job thanks to goals from key man Tomas Soucek and super substitute Callum Wilson.
However, Nuno Espirito Santo will be disappointed in his attacking line for failing to create much, especially Pablo Felipe, who was terrible once again.
Even before his brief injury setback, he was struggling, and since returning, he looks even more off the boil.
Felipe won only 4/15 duels, played zero key passes, and didn’t manage a single shot against Everton, delivering another tepid display.
Since joining in the January transfer window, he has failed to make his mark in the team. He does not contribute enough offensively or defensively to justify his place.
At the moment, it is hard even to place his favourite position as he looks lost on the field.
Nuno must drop the uninspiring 22-year-old now. He is not contributing. If anything, he is hampering West Ham.
The Hammers signed Felipe as a replacement for Lucas Paqueta, who left in the winter transfer window.
But upon this first six-month showing, the club might need to be in the market for another suitable source of creativity.
Harvey Elliott can sort West Ham’s creativity issues
West Ham need to be wise with funds this summer, and taking Harvey Elliott on a season-long loan would be the smart thing to do.
He has struggled at Aston Villa, but West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo can help revive his career by making him an important player in East London next season.
Elliott can be Nuno’s new Morgan Gibbs-White. He is a better stylistic replacement for Paqueta and showed his remarkable vision in the 2023/24 season, delivering four goals and 14 assists.
The England youth international can be a cost-effective solution to West Ham’s creativity problem and can form a terrific frontline alongside Crysencio Summerville and Jarrod Bowen.
