Leeds United striker Joel Piroe is set to undergo a medical today ahead of completing a move to West Ham United, according to ExWHUEmployee.
The Hammers moved swiftly to secure Piroe after their pursuit of primary target Troy Parrott stalled over a financial impasse with AZ Alkmaar.
Piroe is expected to join West Ham on an initial season-long loan, which includes a conditional £15 million obligation to buy.
That clause will become mandatory if West Ham secure promotion to the Premier League at the end of the campaign. West Ham will cover Piroe’s wages in full for the duration of the loan.
A move for the striker accelerated after Nuno Espirito Santo’s public call for attacking reinforcements following West Ham’s recent 2-2 draw with Burnley, which highlighted a lack of depth up front.
The Surinamese forward boasts a proven Championship pedigree, scoring 73 goals in 179 appearances across successful stints with Swansea City and Leeds United.
He was instrumental in Leeds’ promotion campaign in 2024/25, establishing himself as one of the most clinical finishers outside the top flight.
However, Piroe’s first-team opportunities at Elland Road diminished significantly after Leeds’ return to the Premier League.
He made just 16 appearances without scoring, falling behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha in Daniel Farke’s attacking hierarchy.
