Adrian left West Ham United last summer after his contract expired and he has spoken of how Aaron Cresswell helped him sign for Liverpool.
The Spaniard is capable of churning out world-class displays when on song, as he proved throughout his time with the Hammers.
However, most would have expected the former West Ham man to move to a mid-table club from one of Europe’s top five leagues.
Adrian surprisingly earned a move to Liverpool as cover for Alisson after Simon Mignolet left Anfield – with current Hammers man Cresswell playing a role in the deal.
“I didn’t know that at the time but after I signed he told me,” Adrian said, as quoted by The Telegraph.
“So thank you, ‘Cress’, because he had a good word for me!”
Former West Ham man Adrian has so far played eight times in the Premier League for the Reds as a result of their regular first-choice keepers injury during the club’s opening day defeat of Norwich City.
He has looked solid whenever called upon and endured a club debut to remember as he played a crucial role in guiding Jurgen Klopp’s side to UEFA Super Cup glory after having saved Tammy Abraham’s spot-kick during the penalty shoot-out.
West Ham man Cresswell helped him to seal the move to Anfield by making a call to the Reds goalkeeping Coach John Achterberg.
The Hammers left-back knows Achterberg after having worked with him for one season whilst on the books of Tranmere Rovers during the 2008/09 season.
Alisson is widely regarded as being the current best goalkeeper in the world and is expected to soon be instated as goalkeeper for the club again after having recovered from injury.
Former West Ham man Adrian will however have to continue playing a crucial role for Klopp’s side this season as they look to finally win the Premier League title for the first time as well as defend the Champions League title which they won last season.
